13/5/08: Ten Years to the Day
Give or take a day. Ten years of the Rare website! And because I asked nicely, MS held a special Gamers' Day to mark the occasion, lifting the lid on two of our biggest games! Coincidence? Don't be daft. |
So then, the embargo is over and not just one but two major Rare projects are blown open. What a wonderful surprise this must be! It'd be terrible if the announcement had been undermined by, for instance, a load of this stuff being leaked onto the web a couple of days ago.
Our two new sections uploaded today (see the main Games menu) offer the first long-awaited official looks at Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (which of course you knew was coming, if not under that name) and Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise (which you hopefully didn't see coming at all). We've got descriptions, we've got screenshots, we've got initial cast lists, and we'll be expanding and adding to these as we count down towards launch. So keep 'em peeled.
The plan is for both of these beauties to make it out before the end of the year, and now that we've tipped our hand there'll be no more post-X06-style blackouts for either Banjo and Kazooie or the Piñata Island massive. Banjo Pantsboard results are coming soon (we'll be in touch if you entered the hidden Scribes compo and got it right), and all being well you can also expect a special Nuts & Bolts edition of the Tepid Seat to open up for any remaining questions that have either gone ignored by Scribes or been triggered by something random that you've noticed in the screenshots.
For now just gorge yourselves on what's been dished up today, trawl the magical intarnets for more coverage (such as CVG's interview with Banjo team supremo Gregg Mayles), and perhaps think about changing the template of that email you send once a week from "give us Banjo screenshots/VP DLC" to "give us more Banjo screenshots/confidential VP sequel gossip". We applaud your enthusiasm. |
